Agemaspark have used conformal cooling to produce a plastic injection mould core which has reduced the customers cooling time and reduced distortion errors during production.
Using 3D additive manufacturing to produce the mould core this reduced the time taken to make the tool by around 50-60%. The mould core is then heat treated to 54 Hrc.
By adding the internal cooling channels into the mould core this enables a reduction in hot spots during production meaning cooling time is reduced and quality control errors are reduced with less heat distortion being created.
